People who have used thermal oil should know that thermal oil is mainly divided into two types: mineral type and synthetic type. Mineral based thermal oil is mainly made from petroleum as raw material through distillation and other processes. Synthetic thermal oil is refined through specific chemical methods and has a certain chemical structure.

The main components of mineral based thermal oil are hydrocarbon mixtures. And this mixture includes three main types: alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons, alkanes, and cycloalkanes. The main components of synthetic thermal oil are benzyl, alkylbenzene, dibenzyltoluene, diphenyl ether mixture, biphenyl, and other alkyl biphenyls. It can be seen that the chemical properties of these two types of heat transfer oils are different, and they both have different chemical structures. If the two substances are mixed together for use, there may be several potential issues: the mixing of these two types of heat transfer oils will cause changes in their respective parameters, and the operating conditions during manufacturing are not well controlled, making it difficult to meet the production requirements.

Due to their different chemical compositions, different chemical reactions may occur at high temperatures, which may cause the entire system to malfunction;

When mixing, it is not possible to use specific measurement methods to measure such a substance, detect changes in a certain parameter of the substance, and assess changes in its quality;

3. Due to the complex composition of mineral based heat transfer oil, we cannot reuse it after use, which is not conducive to the service life of the heat transfer oil. The chemical structure of synthetic thermal oil can be said to be stable. Although it has undergone a short period of high temperature, it can be reused after a simple secondary treatment, which will extend its service life and reduce certain economic consumption. And this is also an important advantage of synthetic thermal oil. If they are mixed together, it will result in wastage of resources and economic losses.

Based on the above points, it can be clearly seen that these two types of heat transfer oils cannot be mixed together for use.
