During the loading, unloading, handling, and use of hazardous chemicals, accidents may occur, so all work must be carried out in accordance with relevant requirements.
(1) Before loading and unloading hazardous chemicals, it is necessary to make preparations, understand the properties of the goods, check whether the loading and unloading tools are secure, and replace or repair those that are not secure. If the tool has been contaminated with flammable materials, organic substances, acids, alkalis, etc., it must be cleaned before use.
(2) When loading and unloading, operators should wear appropriate protective equipment (including work clothes, rubber aprons, rubber sleeves, rubber gloves, long boots, gas masks, filter masks, gauze masks, gauze gloves, and goggles) according to the hazardous characteristics of different materials. They should pay more attention to toxic, corrosive, radioactive and other items. Before operation, a dedicated person should check whether the equipment is in place and whether it is suitable for wearing. After operation, it should be cleaned or disinfected in a timely manner and stored in a dedicated cabinet.
(3) During operation, hazardous chemicals should be handled with care to prevent impact, friction, dropping, and vibration. When stacking liquid iron drums, do not use a springboard to quickly slide them. Instead, place old tires or other soft materials on the ground or next to the stack and slowly lower them down. Do not place items marked with a non inverted symbol upside down. Once a damaged packaging is found, it must be immediately moved to a safe location for repair or replacement of the packaging. Do not use tools that may cause sparks during repairs.
(4) When loading and unloading hazardous chemicals, drinking and smoking are prohibited. After completing work, wash hands, face, rinse mouth or take a shower in a timely manner according to the work situation and the nature of the hazardous materials. When loading and unloading toxic substances, it is necessary to maintain good air circulation on site. If symptoms of nausea, dizziness, or other poisoning are found, one should immediately rest in fresh air, take off work clothes and protective equipment, clean the skin contaminated areas, and in severe cases, seek medical treatment.
