The main types of synthetic thermal oil
Added:2024-07-23     Views:

Alkylbenzene type (benzene ring type) heat transfer oil: This type of heat transfer oil is a compound with a branched chain of alkanes attached to the benzene ring, with a boiling point of 170-180 ℃ and a freezing point below -80 ℃. Therefore, it can also be used as an antifreeze. The characteristic of this type of product is that it is not prone to precipitation within the applicable range, especially compounds with isopropyl attached chains perform better.

Alkyl naphthalene type heat transfer oil: This type of heat transfer oil is a compound with alkane side chains attached to the benzene ring. The additional side chains generally include methyl, dimethyl, isopropyl, etc. The type and quantity of side chains determine the properties of the compound. They are suitable for gas-phase heating systems in the temperature range of 240~280 ℃.

Alkyl biphenyl type heat transfer oil: This type of heat transfer oil is a compound with alkyl branches attached to the biphenyl ring, composed of short chain alkyl groups (ethyl, isopropyl) combined with the biphenyl ring. The type and quantity of alkyl groups determine their properties. The more alkyl groups there are, the poorer their thermal stability, making them suitable for use in the temperature range of 300-340 ℃.

Low melting mixture type heat transfer oil of biphenyl and diphenyl ether: This type of heat transfer oil is composed of 26.5% biphenyl and 73.5% diphenyl ether, with a melting point of 12 ℃. It is one of the earliest synthetic aromatic heat transfer oils used in the world. Its characteristics are good thermal stability, high operating temperature (400 ℃), and economical use of boiling temperature in the range of 256-258 ℃ at room temperature.

These different types of synthetic thermal oils each have their specific application scope and performance characteristics, suitable for different industrial and civilian devices, such as chemical and petroleum industries, chemical fiber industry, rubber and plastic industry, food industry, etc.
